The NFF President Amaju Pinnick was full of joy after the Golden Eaglets defeated Mexico 4 – 2 in to reach the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Pinnick, who visited the team before the clash in
Concepcion, praised the players for showing great spirit to come from
one goal down to upstage Baby El Tri.
He told thenff.com: “I’m very excited, not only with
the result, but the way the boys came fighting back after that early
goal by Mexico. I keep saying that we have the potential to be world
champions in several areas of endeavour.
He continued: “These boys have done Nigeria proud. They will go
up against Mali on Sunday with great confidence and discipline, and
emerge victorious.”
Holders Nigeria have reached their second consecutive final. The
Eaglets head to Vina Del Mar on Sunday, October 8 for an all-African
final against continental champions Mali, while Mexico will face off
against Belgium for third place earlier the same day.
