During Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Leicester, Wayne Rooney sustained an injury to the side of his stomach after being on the receiving end of a strong tackle from former Chelsea defender Robert Huth.
The tackle left behind a nasty gash on the very fleshy body of the England captain.
Although he was substituted with 22 minutes to play by Van Gaal who was so unhappy with his strike pair, that he made the decision to substitute one of Rooney or Martial before he settled for the captain after he noticed him limping.
When asked if Rooney will be a doubt for their next match he said, ‘I don’t think he is injured for next match. I wanted to change already one of the strikers, then he was limping, that’s why I chose him.
‘But I could have chosen Anthony Martial, both of them were not running in behind. When you have seen the game against Watford, Jesse Lingard was running in behind. You need players running in behind, they didn’t do that. That’s why I wanted to change one of the strikers, but then Rooney was injured.’
Which leaves me to ask why Lingard's name was not on the team sheet?
