A drugs trafficker, Clodoaldo Antonio Felipe, 44, dressed up as a 70-year-old woman and attempted to walk out of Coronel Odenir Guimaraes Prison in the city of Aparecida de Goiania with other inmates’ relatives after visiting time was over. But his bulky body and quick stride aroused the suspicion of a prison guard as he approached the metal detector and last security checkpoint. The guard tailed him and grabbed him after he ignored requests to stop.
He was serving a 36-year sentence for drugs trafficking. The mask he attempted to escape with cost about $1000.
National Prison Service boss Joao Carvalho added: “His main mistake could have been when he was getting ready to pass through one of the last security points and he didn’t walk like you’d expect a 70-year-old woman to walk.”
An investigation is now underway to find out how the prisoner acquired the women’s clothes and mask. He was put in solitary confinement as a punishment.
