Israel's Supreme Court sentenced former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to 18 months in jail on Tuesday after partly overturning a 2014 bribery conviction in which he was originally sentenced to six years behind bars.
Olmert, prime minister from 2006 to 2009, will be the first former head of government in Israel to be imprisoned and he will begin serving his term on Feb. 15, according to live reports from the Jerusalem courtroom.

The charges related to his 1992-2003 term as Jerusalem's mayor and a large real estate deal in the city
