AS Roma appoint Luciano Spalletti as first team manager following Rudi Garcia's sack earlier this week

AS Roma have appointed Luciano Spalletti as successor to Rudi Garcia. Spalletti returns to the club where he was managed between 2005-09.

Upon putting pen to paper, he said: 'I'm excited because I know what the merits of this city, this club and this team are. It's exciting to work with such worthy people.'

Roma fired Garcia on Wednesday after only one win in their last 10 matches in all competitions.
