Justin Bieber may have kept the chart positions captive for a number of weeks now, but it looks like Craig David's comeback could knock him off the top.
The Noughties garage artist made a sensational return to the limelight with a cover of No1 hit Love Yourself on Wednesday; a BBC Radio 1Xtra Live Lounge performance that ended up going viral on the internet.
The 34-year-old's up tempo version was viewed over 600k times in the first 24 hours with social media users congratulating the singer on such a triumph.
It featured a sped-up vocal and an improvised rap at the end of the track, in his signature style, and was followed by a preview of his new track When The Bassline Drops, with Big
Narstie.
The Trevor Nelson session served up a subtle reminder of his hit-making potential, especially among fans of his debut album Born To Do It in 2000.
The morning after, one Twitter user rightly pointed out: '@CraigDavid cover of Love Yourself has literally taken over all news feeds!'
Such high praise included those who said it surpassed the original: 'Ugh @CraigDavid's Bieber cover is even better than the original. What a lad!'
