Forgotten man Ashley Cole joins Steven Gerrard in LA Galaxy

Former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has completed his move to MLS to join LA Galaxy.

Cole who had a disappointing spell at Italian club Roma after leaving Chelsea in 2014, will join up with the likes of Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard at the Los Angeles club.
He started just 11 Serie A games in his 18 months at the club, and did not play a single minute this season before his move, raising further doubts over his ability to perform at the top.

But Galaxy's manager, Bruce Arena, stressed that Cole would be able to use his time at the club to prove that he is still an elite player.
'Ashley is one of the world's most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career,' said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager.
'He can provide our defense with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.'

Arena also stressed that Cole had sought the move, and said he was sure he would be able to play to the standards of the league.
'My interactions with him over the last couple of months is that he's a player who has a strong desire to play here in LA.

'He's very fit, he's got a burning desire to get back on the field and prove to people he can still play. I have a hard time believing that he won't be one of the better left backs in our league.

'In the case of Ashley Cole he recruited the LA Galaxy real hard. He wanted to come to our club, he wants this opportunity in this club.'

Good luck to Ash!
