Put your feet up! Newcastle set for 18-DAY break

The Magpies were meant to face Manchester City on the day of the League Cup final, but City's semi-final win & the Magpies' FA Cup exit means they will have plenty of time off
Manchester City's qualification for the League Cup final is not only good news for Manuel Pellegrini's men, but is also a boost for another Premier League side.

City's clash with Liverpool at Wembley on February 28 means their original fixture, an away trip to Newcastle, will be postponed for a later date.

And with Steve McClaren's side already out of the FA Cup having been defeated by Watford in the third round, the Magpies will be able to enjoy 18 days without a competitive outing at one of the busiest junctures of the campaign.

The fifth round of the FA Cup is scheduled to take place on the weekend of February 20-21, meaning Newcastle's final match in the month comes away at Chelsea on February 13.

They will then not be in action again until March 2 when they travel to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City as they bid to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Everton, who were beaten by City in Wednesday's semi-final, could also enjoy a similar break should they be defeated by Carlisle United in their FA Cup fourth round clash on Sunday.

Their trip to Anfield for the second Merseyside derby of the season was scheduled for the same day as the League Cup final, but Jurgen Klopp's side instead have a date in the capital to attend to.
