An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 30-year-old mechanic, Soliu Arolu, who allegedly defiled and

impregnated a teenager.

The Magistrate, Mrs T.O. Shomade ordered the accused to be remanded in Kirikiri Prison and adjourned the case till Jan. 27 when the bail application would be entertained.Arolu, a mechanic, who lives at 2, Adewusi Lane, off Ajegunle St., Ilupeju, Lagos is facing a two-count charge bordering on defilement.

The prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Eigbokhon, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in

September 2015 at the residence of the accused.

According to the prosecutor, the accused stays in the same compound with the victim, a 15-year-old.

“It was when the victim’s mother discovered that she was pregnant that she told her that it was the accused that defiled her,” he said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 137 and 263(1) (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
