Van Gaal reveals the 'extravagant' gift United's Ed Woodward gave to him after win over Liverpool

Am not sure how United fans would take this but apparently, Louis Van Gaal would not be going anywhere anytime soon as executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has stuck to him like butter sticks to bread.

The Dutchman has revealed the extent of support he has from Woodward and the enduring strength of their relationship by revealing he will celebrate their Friday night victory over Derby by drinking an expensive bottle of wine given to him as gift from Manchester United ’s executive vice chairman.
United advanced to the fifth round in the FA Cup with a 3-1 win at Pride Park.

Asked how he will celebrate, he revealed Woodward’s lavish gift.
It was a present for United’s 1-0 win against Liverpool earlier this month.

“I will come back and my wife is at home because she was in the Netherlands, and the wine is already open,” he said.
“We drink a nice bottle of wine, probably the most expensive wine, because I have received that from Ed Woodward.
“Because I get always expensive wine when we beat an opponent of out the top six.
“I don’t want to mention the name because it is a little bit extravagant.”

Van Gaal reportedly offered his resignation last month after watching United fall away in their challenge for the title.

Woodward refused to accept it and is adamant he wants the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager to see out his three-year contract at Old Trafford.
Despite coming under increasing pressure following last week’s 1-0 home defeat to Southampton, Van Gaal confident he still has the faith of United’s hierarchy.
“It is not a question of one match,” he said. “It is difficult to understand, but it is a process.
“It is a period of three years.
“This board is very intelligent to understand that.
“It is not a question of one match.”
