I don't know which is worse, whether it is the horrific performances week-in week-out by Premier League referees, the most recent of which was Anthony Taylor's in the Chelsea vs West Brom game on Wednesday or the even more pathetic and shameless response from fourth official Jon Moss after Guus Hiddink complained to him!
However, my major area of concern in this case is not same as the FA's who have now charged both teams for failing to control their players during the heated game that saw both teams share the spoils at Stamford Bridge.
The incident occurred during an off-the-ball incident when West Brom's Claudio Yacob, who had already been booked, tripped Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
The Baggies midfielder was fortunate to have avoided a second yellow card and a dismissal before being promptly substituted by boss Tony Pulis in the 2-2 draw.
A statement from the FA reads: 'Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion have both been charged for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.'
'The charge relates to an incident which occurred in or around the 58th minute of their fixture on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
'Both clubs have until 6pm on 20 January 2016 to respond to the charge.'
Interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink referred to the incident on Friday when he revealed a rather more shocking incident that occurred between himself and the fourth official.
Hiddink felt Yacob should have seen a second yellow and was so frustrated with the performance of referee Anthony Taylor that he expressed his concerns to fourth official Jon Moss. The response he got was not what he expected.
'I told him: "This is one of the worst referees of the Premier League I have experienced,'' said Hiddink.
'He said to me 'you haven't seen me yet', which was a beautiful remark I think.'
What on earth gives a referee the confidence to say such a thing, in the line of duty and in such situation can only be found in one world - one in which everybody who questions their actions is sanctioned and they are not answerable to 'anybody'!
Typical case of 'Who will police the police???
