Chai! Famous Manchester United fan vows not to return to Old Trafford until LVG leaves

Renowned Manchester United fan and bookmaker Fred Done has revealed he will not be attending Old Trafford while Louis van Gaal is still in charge, writes Mirror Football's James Whaling.

Done, who owns gambling firm Betfred, famously paid out on the Red Devils to win the Premier League in March 1998, only for them to lose out to Arsenal by a point.

He repeated the stunt in 2012, paying out early on United to lift the title, before Sergio Aguero's last-minute winner on the final day sent glory to local rivals Man City.

Now, the bookie says he has given up his seat at the Theatre of Dreams due to the 'tedious' style of play.

He wrote in his 'Balls and Odds' column in the Warrington Guardian: "Regular readers might know I do have a soft spot for Manchester United... well not any more!

"I'm so fed up with the tedious football that is being served up by Louis van Gaal I won't be going back to Old Trafford until there has been a change.

"For 65 years, from Duncan Edwards to George Best, Bobby Charlton and Paul Scholes, I have been a Red but I just can't stand the Theatre of Dreams, or more accurately 'recurring nightmare', any more."
