Wayne Rooney's 1 week wage is more than the annual total of United's all conquering 69 man squad that included legends George Best and Bobby Charlton!

Latest figures show that England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney earns more in a single week, than the Red Devils side who were European Cup holders earned in an ENTIRE SEASON back in 1969.

That's a United side comprising club legends like European footballer of the year George Best, Denis Law, Nobby Stiles and Bobby Charlton, in a squad which is a veritable who's who of the great and good of British football.

The club's annual statement of accounts from 1969 shows that the entire squad collected just £204,028 between them, in "wages and bonus" across the entire season.

That figure comes in at much less than the reported £250,000 Rooney pockets EACH WEEK and that is apart from bonuses!

It is safe to say he LITERALLY earns more in fixed wages from United in a week than United's 68-69 squad took home in a year!
